Península de Baru es una zona costera situada al sur y a 45 minutos de Cartagena de Indias, famosa por sus playas blancas y agua turquesa.
Today it is a place of great tourist boom. Most of the beaches are private, owned by individuals or tourist ventures, except for Playa Blanca, which is the only public beach.
On the Barú peninsula there are several towns with a total population of approximately 20,000 people. Most of them live thanks to tourism, either working in hotel facilities or selling crafts to visitors.
